accessAbilities Acquires Home Care Licensure

GREENSBURG, PA – May 28, 2010 –  accessAbilities, a multi-county nonprofit organization that provides home- and community-based services for children and adults with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, is pleased to announce they have recently acquired their Home Care Licensure.

The Licensure, a new mandate issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, requires that all non-medical home care agencies are registered and licensed.  This ensures the public that the agency is in compliance with policies and procedures mandated by the State. As a provider of services in Armstrong, Indiana, and Westmoreland counties, accessAbilities has completed the licensure process in each of these counties.

“As an agency that prides itself on providing quality services to our community that increase the number of people who are able to maintain their independence in their own homes, we have appreciated this opportunity to demonstrate our on-going commitment to top notch internal controls and service delivery,” commented Kris Pate, accessAbilities’ Chief Program Officer.  “Although the Home Care Licensure process helped us to fine tune a few things, we were pleased to find that the vast majority of our processes were already in compliance or exceeded the licensure standards.”

accessAbilities, a United Way partner agency and the 2009 Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit of the Year, provides in-home services for more than 1,800 children, youth, adults, and seniors with developmental delays or disabilities in Armstrong, Indiana, and Westmoreland counties.  For more than 55 years, the agency has been committed to giving consumers with physical and/or cognitive disabilities the supports they need to live in their homes, enabling them to participate in community life to the extent that they choose.  Visit www.accessAbilities.org for additional information.  accessAbilities provides equal opportunity in employment and services.
